ULIS is one of the leading belarusian rock groups. They sing their own compositions in belarussian language. ULIS made first public performance in Minsk in March 1989. The band released nine albums. The song "Radio Freedom", composed by rock-group ULIS in 1990, is a hymn of the radio station "RADIO FREE EUROPE – RADIO LIBERTY".
Since 1989 ULIS participated in concerts & festivals in the next cities: Minsk, Brest, Grodno, Novogrudok, Moscow, Kaliningrad, Chernovtsy, Sopot (Poland), Belostok (Poland), Augsburg (Germany), London (England)…
Among them the most significant are:
- "Basovishcha" festival (Belastok, Poland 1990 - 2005)
- "Syrok" festival (Moscow 1990)
- "Musicians of the world for children of Chernobyl" (Minsk 1990)
- "Clean Water Rock" festival (Minsk 1990)
- "Rock Summer" festival (Tallinn 1991)
- "Rock – Mafia" festival (Sopot, Poland 1991)
- "29-th Sopot Festival" (Poland 1992)
Through 1991 – 1993 ULIS played concerts in clubs & pubs in Augsburg (Germany).
In the autumn of 1993 ULIS appeared in London. Playing 6 concerts in local clubs.
ULIS played with such groups as: JETRO TULL, THE STRANGLERS, KAOMA, HAVANA BLACK, LENUNGRAD COWBOYS, ECHO AND THE BUNNYMEN, NITZER EBB, MARILLION, MECCA, HOLY JOY, etc…
Now the group consists of:
Viachaslau Koran - guitar, vocal, music, lyrics, the producer of the group.
Pavel Yarmochanka - drums.
Natallia Kunitskaya - keys.
Viktar Samarukau - bass-guitar.
When it is possible they usually take with them their sound producer.
They have always been developing their music, never stopped on the achieved results, and, that is the most important, they have never obeyed the stylistic limits imposed by the officials. They have never been afraid of experimenting with music that is why the music that they are playing now, is totally different, from what they played 16 years ago.
